Alex Ebstein
October 20 - November 24, 2012
Opening reception October 20, 7-10pm

sophiajacob is proud to present a solo exhibition of artwork by Alex Ebstein. This exhibition will include works that exemplify a meandering process of art-making via a faithful relationship with craft, utilitarian, and traditional materials. Reflecting an equal balance of emotional and concrete influences, each piece is decidedly experimental. Rooted in the gap that exists between two and three dimensions, Alex's work deconstructs abstraction by uncovering layers of uncertainty, be they compositional, material, or personal.

Alex Ebstein graduated from Goucher College with a BA in Studio Art in 2007 and is currently an MFA student at Towson University. Alex has exhibited work nationally, including group exhibitions, Fakin' It at the University of Cincinnati, Three Vertices at LVL 3 and The Empty Vessel at Manifest Exhibitions, both in Chicago. An active writer and curator, Alex is also co-director of Nudashank. This will be her first solo exhibition in Baltimore.

A full color-catalog and interview with the artist will be available at the exhibition and for download.
